CROSSWOOD CENTRE

Located at: 5355 COUNTY ROAD 35, AUBURN, INDIANA, 46706-9717
The Centre, owned wholly by the Community of the Cross, brings together in one location three distinct yet interactive communities in one setting: The Community of the Cross, The Skete at Crosswood and the Chancery for the Orthodox-Catholic Church of America.
The buildings are twelve years old and reflect the heritage of its builders and first occupants: the Amish of Northeast Indiana. The main house is nearly 4,300 sq. ft. and contains six suites where currently eight people live. The chapel, in addition to a sanctuary, is home to a gathering room, library and (soon) another suite and a series of quiet rooms for retreatants. There is an animal barn currently inhabited by two yearling lambs, a llama and a burro, all of whom welcome visitors for a friendly pat and, in the case of the llama, maybe a gentle kiss. There is also a workshop set up for woodworking, ceramics and general repairs.
The Centre is halfway between Leo, Indiana and Auburn, Indiana on the main county road between those two towns. Access is easily had off of 1-69 at Exit 126, the famous Kruse Auto Auction location.
